Fixed Wireless Access

4G FIXED WIRELESS

We recommend customers install fibre broadband wherever this is available. However, it is often the case that fibre connectivity is unavailable at an address or installation is delayed or the customer requires a non-fibre connection for other reasons. Our supplied Huawei router also comes with automatic WAN port failover to 4G so it can be used for Fibre customers who require resiliency in the event of a fibre outage at their premises.

Hero Internet FWA will work on compatible 4G routers such as Huawei B818 Which we can Supply.
We also offer unlocked SIM cards to use in your own router, However this router will need to support the frequencies at 700 MHz (Band 28), 1800 MHz (Band 3), and 2600 MHz (Band 7).  We cannot guarantee the performance of our 4G fixed wireless service in such cases.Older modems such as the B315 or B3000 may technically work but result in poor performance.

Router Configuration and Install

If you have ordered FWA and have selected router included you will be sent a Huawei B818 that has the FWA SIM card pre-inserted, no configuration needs to be done and the router only needs to be plugged into the power for it to work.
If you have ordered just the FWA SIM card you will need to insert this into your router. The SIM should pull the needed settings onto the router however in some cases you may need to add in the APN.
The APN we use is the following - ws.wn.fwa
